Setup
Physically connect the receipt printer
Here's how to prepare your receipt printer for setup with Servire
To operate Servire, you need at least one receipt printer. The POS app directly supports Epson TM-series receipt printers. Printers from other manufacturers with the ESC/POS standard (e.g., Star Micronics, Bixolon) can also be connected via the Servire Hub as a print hub.
This article describes the initial physical connection of the printer. The connection to the server is subsequently covered in the article Connecting a receipt printer to a server.
Supported Epson models
The POS app supports all common Epson TM models, including:
-
TM-m10 / TM-m30 — compact desktop receipt printers (standard)
-
TM-T20 / TM-T70 / TM-T82 / TM-T88 / TM-T100 — robust receipt printers for high volumes
-
TM-P20 / TM-P60 / TM-P80 — mobile Bluetooth receipt printers
-
TM-U220 / TM-U330 — kitchen receipt printers with dot matrix printing (readable even in heat)
-
TM-L90 — label printer
If you don't already have a printer, we recommend the Epson TM-m30III as an all-rounder for counter and table service.
Connection types
Epson receipt printers can be connected to your network in two ways: via LAN cable (recommended), via WLAN or via Bluetooth (for mobile models).
Option A: LAN cable (recommended)
-
Connect the printer to your Wi-Fi router or network switch using a LAN cable.
-
Insert a receipt roll into the printer. Ensure the paper is oriented correctly (the heat-sensitive side should face outwards).
-
Connect the power adapter and turn on the printer using the switch on the back.
-
The printer will automatically print a self-test with its IP address and MAC address. Save this printout—you will need this information for server setup.
Stable connection
LAN is the most reliable connection type and is recommended for continuous operation. The printer automatically receives an IP address from the router (DHCP).
Option B: Wi-Fi (for some models)
Some Epson models (e.g., the TM-m30III with a Wi-Fi module) can also connect directly to your Wi-Fi network. Follow the instructions included with the printer—the exact procedure varies depending on the model.
Option C: Bluetooth (for mobile models)
Mobile receipt printers like the TM-P20 or TM-P80 can be paired directly with an iPhone or iPad via Bluetooth. Simply turn on the printer—the Servire POS app will automatically find it during setup.
Bluetooth notification
You do not need to pair the printer via the iOS Bluetooth settings. The Servire POS app detects Bluetooth printers directly — see Connecting a receipt printer to Servire.
After the physical connection
Once the printer is running (status LED is green), you can set it up in the POS app. Instructions can be found under Connecting a receipt printer to a server.
