Set up collection numbers

Activate collection numbers and set up a collection display for your guests.

What collection numbers are good for

For orders placed without a table—at the counter, the express checkout, or the self-service kiosk—there is no table to which you can trace the customer. Servire assigns a sequential pickup number to these orders. This number appears on the customer's receipt and on the kitchen slip, and it also appears on the pickup display as soon as the order is ready for collection.

On the left are the items that are still being prepared, on the right are those ready for pickup. When a number moves to the right, a signal sounds and the customer knows it's time to come.

Activate collection numbers

In the Web desk → Settings → POS, open the Pickup Numbers section and activate Activate Pickup Numbers. The switch saves immediately. You can find the same setting in the Hub under Settings → Pickup Display.

The switch under Settings → Checkout assigns sequential pickup numbers to orders without a table. A separate editing dialog is not required for this.

This setting is intentionally only available in the Hub and the Web Desk. The POS app uses pickup numbers but does not configure them—this prevents accidental changes on the device.

Without activated pickup numbers, no pickup display appears in the sidebar of the hub. If you don't see the entry, the switch is still off.

Set up the collection display

The pickup display is located within the hub. You don't need any additional equipment from us: any tablet, an older laptop, or a mini-PC connected to a screen will suffice. Open https://hub.servire.de/ in your browser, log in with your account, and select Pickup Display.

Position the device so that waiting guests can see it from a few meters away, and activate full-screen mode using the icon in the top right corner. Leave the device plugged in—as long as the browser is open, Servire prevents the screen from going to sleep.

Tip

The collection display does not require a separate registration for each shift. Once set up, it runs continuously, even across shift changes.

Display duration and signal tone

The display duration determines how long an order number remains available for pickup if no one marks it as collected. The default setting is 15 minutes. A fast-moving snack bar often performs better with 3 to 5 minutes, while a business with a waiting area benefits from 30 minutes or more.

The display duration is only a last resort in case no one completes the process. The normal way is to mark the number as collected—then it disappears immediately, regardless of the set duration.

This is where you activate the signal tone that sounds with each new call, and you can choose between several sounds. This setting applies per device: the tone is usually useful on a display in the guest area, but rather off on a secondary device in the office.

Browsers only allow sound after someone has touched the page. After setting it up, tap the display once – after that, every request will play.

Interaction with the ordering terminal

When you activate an order terminal, Servire automatically activates the pickup numbers. Without a number, the customer would have no identifier at the terminal that you could use to contact them.

How the numbers are assigned and called in everyday practice is explained in the article "Working with Pickup Numbers". What the guest sees of the number is described in "The Pickup Number for the Guest".
