Setup
Activate Tap to Pay on iPhone
Accept card payments directly with your iPhone — without a separate terminal
With Tap to Pay on iPhone, your iPhone becomes a card terminal. Guests simply hold their card, iPhone, or Apple Watch flat against the top back of your device—the payment is contactless, without any additional hardware. The POS app supports Tap to Pay via SumUp and Stripe.
Requirements
-
iPhone XS or newer in a supported region — Tap to Pay is not available on iPad
-
A current iOS version: The cash register app itself requires at least iOS 17.6
-
A set-up account with SumUp or Stripe
-
An active internet connection
How to activate Tap to Pay
You set up the payment provider once in the Service Webdesk under Settings → Integrations. Then, on your iPhone, open Settings → Payment Providers. There you will see the status for each device and tap Enable Tap to Pay. Apple will guide you through logging in with your Apple ID, accepting the terms and conditions, and confirming your setup—this takes about two minutes and only needs to be done once per iPhone.
Permissions
Using SumUp requires Bluetooth and location access. Allow both in the iOS pop-ups; otherwise, the setup will fail.
This is how payment works in the service
-
Take the order and select Card Payment at checkout.
-
Hold the card or device flat against the top back of your iPhone.
-
For larger amounts, iOS will prompt you for your PIN on the display.
-
After confirmation, the receipt will be printed.
Registering with SumUp directly in the POS app is no longer possible — setup is now exclusively via the web interface. If activation fails, please check your device, region, and the status of your payment account, or contact support@servire.de.
