Setup
Configure receipt printer
Print destinations, cash drawer, print mode and other printer settings
After you have physically connected your printer (see manual/connect-receipt-printer-to-server), you can adjust further settings. This allows you to specify which receipts the printer receives, whether it opens a cash drawer, and in which printing mode it prints.
You can find the configuration in the POS app under Settings → Printers → Select printer.
Set print targets
Print destinations determine which receipts are printed on which printer. Typical configurations:
- Counter Printer: Invoices, interim invoices, end-of-day reports
- Kitchen Printer: Food orders (hot/cold kitchen)
- Bar Printer: Drink orders
In the Print Jobs section, you will see a list of all item groups in your menu. Select the groups you want to print on this printer. You can send an item to multiple printers—for example, a pizza order prints simultaneously on the kitchen and counter printers.
Article group strategy
Organize your menu items into groups that correspond to your printer assignments. For example: Appetizers, Main Courses, Desserts → print all on the kitchen printer. Alcoholic Drinks, Non-alcoholic Drinks → print all on the bar printer.
Automatically open cash drawer
If your printer has a cash drawer connected (via the special cash drawer cable), Servire can automatically open it for every cash payment.
To enable this, activate the Open Cash Drawer option in the printer settings. The drawer will remain closed for card or voucher payments.
Print mode: Image or text
Servire offers two print modes:
-
Image Mode (Standard): Receipts are rendered as images. Advantages: Pixel-perfect layout, logos, and freely selectable fonts. Disadvantages: Slightly slower and requires more bandwidth.
-
Text Mode (Beta): Receipts are sent to the printer as plain text. Advantages: Faster and more energy-efficient. Disadvantages: Less layout flexibility, no embedded images.
For most businesses, Image Mode is the right choice. Only activate Text Mode if print speed is a concern.
Paper width
Servire automatically formats receipts to match your printer's paper width. Common widths:
-
57 mm: Compact receipts (mobile printers like TM-P20)
-
76 mm: Classic kitchen receipts (TM-U220/U330)
-
80 mm: Standard for counter and invoice receipts (TM-m30, TM-T88)
The paper width is automatically set to match the printer model series when you add it. Manual adjustment is usually not necessary.
Remove or rename printers
In the printer list, you can tap on any printer to change its settings. Remove a printer using the trash can icon. Print destinations will be automatically reassigned—ongoing print jobs will be retained.
Check before deleting
If you delete a printer with active print destinations, then check the print destinations of the remaining printers to ensure that no product groups are left without a printer.
