Q: Can I specify a separate printer for each category?

Yes — but not via the menu category, but via the item group . These are two different things: Categories (beer, wine, appetizers…) organize the menu for the server. Article groups are product groups. The receipt printing and the sales breakdown in the cash register report depend on them. Anyone who wants to print beer on tap and wine at the counter should create two separate article groups for this. 1. Create product groups — in the Web desk , under Settings → POS → Product groups , tap the plus sign. Choose any name you like (e.g., Beer , Wine ), and select the type as Drinks, Food, or Miscellaneous. In addition to the three standard groups, you can create as many of your own as you like. **2. Assigning item ** — You select the article group in the item dialog; it is a required field there. Assign all beer item to the Beer group, all wine articles to the Wine group. To assign multiple item at once: check the desired item in the menu and select Edit → Change Article Group . 3. Assigning Printers — In the POS app, under Settings → Printers , tap the desired printer and under Print Jobs , select or deselect the item groups. A group can be assigned to multiple printers, and a printer can handle multiple groups. Tip: From the outset, organize your product groups according to the location of your printers. Two item from the same category can be in different product groups and will then be printed on different printers.

Question 1

How does the deposit system for bottles, cups and crates work?

Accepted Answer

In the Web desk , you create your deposit items (e.g., €0.25 bottle deposit) under Menu → → Edit Deposit Items and attach them to the corresponding item in the item dialog. The POS app automatically adds the deposit to the order and shows it separately on the receipt. There are two ways to process the return: Deposit Return in the POS action menu (payout without an order) or Deduct Deposit when paying if the customer orders something at the same time. Both entries are recorded in the cash register and the Z-report. Instructions: Setting up a deposit and Deposit Return.

Question 2

Can I cancel, and is there a minimum contract term?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can cancel at any time; there is no minimum term. The Solo, Pro, and Max subscriptions can be canceled monthly at the end of the current billing period. You can find the cancellation option in the Web desk under Settings → Subscription in the restaurant's menu under Cancel.

Free is permanently free and requires no cancellation. This also applies to the 14-day Max trial period for new accounts: it automatically converts to Free. Cancellation does not release you from your legal obligation to retain existing POS data.

Question 3

Can I simply switch my existing point-of-sale system?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You register for free, import your menu using the AI import function (upload a photo or PDF of your old menu; Servire recognizes item and prices), and set up the POS system yourself. No technician appointments, no switching fees. With Servire Free, which is permanently free, you can try everything out at your leisure alongside your old system. For full POS operation, you need a TSE (the security device for the tax office), which is available starting with the Solo plan. Plans

Question 4

Do I need to cancel my old point-of-sale system beforehand?

Accepted Answer

No. You can test Servire alongside your old system and only switch when you're ready. Every Servire subscription can be cancelled monthly — no risk.

Question 5

I cannot enter an initial balance

Accepted Answer

If the cash register reports at check-in that the desired opening balance exceeds the available cash book balance, this means there is less money in the cash book than you want to put into the service till. Servire will not dispense any money that is not recorded in the cash book.

Here's how to do it: First, record the change as income in the cash book. Open Cash Book → Income, enter the amount, and select 0% Tax-Free — Private Withdrawal, Private Deposit as the tax rate. Then you can enter the opening balance.

Setting the cash balance to 0: Record an expense for the remaining amount, also with 0% tax exemption. A negative cash balance is not possible – the cash register will then display "The cash balance must not be negative".

There is no opening balance for the main cash register. The cash balance is continuously updated and is determined during the first cash count.
