Additional settings for articles
Images, variants, markings, tax rates, PLU and descriptions — all detailed options per item
Servire offers extensive additional settings for each item, which you can access via the four tabs in the item dialog — in addition to basic data such as name, price and item group.

Pictures
Upload a product image (JPEG, PNG, WebP). The image will be displayed in the digital menu and on the customer display. Recommendation: square images with a minimum resolution of 600 × 600 px for sharp display.
Global variants
Here you assign variant groups to the article, which you have managed centrally — e.g., Size with options small, medium, large. Create a variant group once, assign it to any number of articles — changes take effect immediately everywhere. See Manage Variants.
Article-specific variants
Variants that apply only to this one item and are not reused centrally—e.g., With/Without Cream only for a specific cake. These variants are not visible in the global variant groups.
Labeling (allergens and additives)
Mark all relevant allergens and additives here (e.g., contains gluten, contains eggs, with preservative). These labels will be displayed as superscripts or symbols on both digital and printed menus—a legal requirement in Germany and Austria according to the Food Information Regulation (LMIV). You can manage the global list of labels under Manage Labels.
Tax rates
Servire separates in-house tax rate (e.g., 19% for dine-in) and takeaway tax rate (e.g., 7% for takeaway). The default values are taken from the restaurant settings—but you can override them for each item (e.g., if a drink is taxed differently).
When different tax rates are necessary
In Germany, food consumed on the premises is taxed at 19%, while takeaway food is taxed at 7%. Beverages are taxed at 19% in both cases. Servire automatically switches between these rates when the customer activates the takeaway mode at the checkout.
PLU (Price Look-Up)
The PLU is a short number that allows service staff to directly access the item via the keypad—faster than using the item list. This is useful for kiosks, bars, or fast-food establishments with high-speed service. The PLU must be unique within the establishment.
