Data import (CSV/ZIP)

Import menu data from CSV or ZIP — for migration or bulk maintenance

With Data Import, you can import menu data back — either as a CSV file (e.g., after bulk processing in Excel) or as a ZIP package (CSV plus images).

When do you use the import function?

  • Migration: You are switching POS systems and have your data from the old system in CSV format.

  • Bulk Update: You have adjusted prices or item names in Excel and want to restore them.

  • Restore: You want to restore a backup.

  • Branch: You are copying a menu from one restaurant to another.

Perform import

  1. Click the More menu (…) in the upper right corner and select Data Import

  2. Click the upload field or drag and drop your file (.csv or .zip) into it

  3. Click Check Data — the file will be validated and a preview displayed

  4. Confirm the import

Check CSV format

Always use a CSV file previously generated with Data Export as your template. Only the column names, including capitalization, are important. The column order is irrelevant, and additional columns will not cause any problems. If required columns are missing, the check will report "Missing Fields".

Caution when importing

  • The matching process uses the record ID, not the name: Known IDs are updated, unknown ones are created. The preview shows this as Update or Create for each line.

  • Data is written by merging: Fields not present in the file remain unchanged. Nothing is deleted during the import.

  • Duplicate entries only occur if the IDs differ—for example, when importing from another restaurant.

  • Before a large import, we recommend creating a backup via Data Export; if unsure, test with 3-5 items first.
