Manage menu categories

This is how you create and manage categories such as hot drinks, appetizers, or pizza.

Categories structure your menu. A Drinks menu contains typical categories such as Hot Drinks, Soft Drinks, Beer, or Wine. A Food menu contains Appetizers, Main Courses, and Desserts.

Categories are printer-relevant

Via article groups you can control which categories are routed to which printer — e.g. drinks to the bar, food to the kitchen.

Create a new category

First, select the menu where you want the category to appear (tab at the top). Then, click on + Category in the upper right corner.

Enter the following information:

  • Icon: Category icon (e.g., cup for hot drinks, pizza icon for pizza)

  • Name: Category name (e.g., Hot Drinks, Appetizers)

  • Color: Optional — Accent color for the POS app

  • Active: Show/hide without deleting

Click Save. The new category will appear on the menu and will initially be empty — next, add items.

Edit, sort, or delete a category

Click the More menu (…) to the right of the category name. You can:

  • Edit Category — Change the name, icon, and color

  • Duplicate Category — Create a copy with all articles

  • Sort Articles — Change the order of the articles

  • Delete Category — Removes the category and all articles

Order of categories

You can change the category sorting via the More menu in the top right corner of the menu card → Sort categories. See Sorting.
