How to manage individual items — name, price, tax rates, descriptions

Items are the individual items on your menu — from Espresso €2.30 to Pizza Margherita €12.50. You can easily create them in the web desktop browser, and they will be immediately available on all connected iPhones and iPads.

Create new article

Select the menu and category where you want the item to appear. Click on + Item to the right of the category name.

Create new article dialog with fields for name, PLU, price, article group, tax rates, descriptions, active and sold-out switches, as well as tabs for images, global variants, article-specific variants and tags.

Required fields:

  • Name — The name of the item in the POS app and on receipts

  • Price in € — Gross selling price

  • Item Group — Determines printer assignment and accounting account

  • In-store and Take-away tax rate — Automatically pre-populated after configuration (e.g., 19% in-store, 7% take-away)

Optional fields:

  • PLU — short number for quick access at the POS

  • Internal Description — visible only to staff (e.g., preparation instructions)

  • Public Description — appears on the printed menu or in the Service Hub

  • Image — photo of the item (for digital menu and customer display)

  • Active — show/hide item

  • Sold Out — item is visible but not available for order (e.g., when ingredients are sold out)

Add multiple items later

The Add another article checkbox in the bottom left corner keeps the dialog open after you click Save — perfect for quickly creating an entire category in succession.

Advanced options via tabs

In the right-hand section of the dialog box, you will see four tabs:

  • Images — Upload product photos (JPEG/PNG/WebP)

  • Global Variants — Assign existing variant groups such as Size or Side Effects (see Manage Variants)

  • Item-Specific Variants — Variants specific to this item only (e.g., With/Without Cream)

  • Labels — Allergens and additives (see Manage Labels)

Edit, move, or delete items

Click on the More menu (…) to the right of the article.

  • Edit Item — Edit all fields again

  • Move Item — Move item to a different category or menu (see Move Item)

  • Duplicate Item — Quickly copy similar items

  • Delete Item — Permanently removes the item

Orders will be retained

Even if you delete an item, all previous orders, statistics, and TSE-signed receipts are retained. The data does not disappear—only the item can no longer be ordered.
