Set up print center

This way, all cash registers print via one station instead of each one individually.

Without a central print hub, each iPad sends its receipts to the printers itself. This works, but has two disadvantages: each device needs access to every printer, and an iPad that's currently in the basement won't print.

With the central printing system, all cash registers send their receipts to one station, which then takes care of the printing.

A device that is operational and running — a small computer, an Android tablet, or an iPad. For the most reliable operation, use the desktop app.

Turn on

  1. Open the Print Center in the hub.

  2. Switch the switch in the upper right corner to Active.

From now on, all receipts will be processed via the hub. A notification will appear on the iPad indicating that print jobs are being processed via the hub, and the menu item will be called Printer (Hub Mode) — the local printer settings will be disabled there.

Add printer

Tap on Add printer and enter:

  • Label — for your convenience, such as "kitchen" or "counter"

  • Connection type — in the browser Epson, in the desktop app also Star, Bixolon or Citizen

  • IP address — is shown on the printer's self-test screen.

  • Paper width — 58 mm narrow or 80 mm standard

  • Character set — so that umlauts appear correctly

  • Print jobs — which receipts this printer can handle: food, drinks, invoices, reports, deposit slips

With Test Print you can check in one step whether the address, paper width and character set are correct.

It operates separately from the POS app. An 80 mm printer, set to a 58 mm stroke, prints compressed receipts.

What the printing center does automatically

If a receipt fails due to a lack of paper or an offline printer, the system will attempt it twice more. Only then will the job be marked as failed and placed in the queue, allowing you to reprint it manually.

Turn off again

Switch the same switch back to Inactive. The cash registers will then print directly again.
