Manage price categories
How to set up multiple prices per item — for happy hour, staff prices, or different locations.
Why price categories?
Price categories allow you to assign multiple prices to the same item. Classic use cases:
-
Happy Hour — Cocktails at a discount from 5 pm to 7 pm
-
Staff Discount — Separate price list for employees
-
Outdoor vs. Indoor — Terrace surcharge
-
Event Prices — Higher prices for concerts or events
-
Wholesale — B2B prices for catering customers
Activate price categories
Price categories are disabled by default — most restaurants don't need them. Activate them under Settings → Restaurant → Price Categories using the Activate Price Categories toggle.
Once activated, Servire creates an initial default category. Only after you create a second one can you switch between them in the POS app.
Create another price category
Tap the + symbol and give it a name (e.g., Happy Hour, Staff). You can then set a separate price for each item in your menu, for each category.
Use price category in the POS app
In the POS app, you can switch between price categories when creating a new order. Existing orders retain their original price—the change only applies to newly added items.
Automate Happy Hour
If you have Server Pro, you can define time windows in the self-order configuration during which the happy hour price category is automatically active. This saves you the hassle of switching it manually.
