Register and remove card readers
Here's how to pair a Stripe Reader S700 or a SumUp card reader with the POS app, select it for each device, and remove it again.
Card payments in the POS app can be processed in two ways: via Tap to Pay directly on the iPhone or via a card reader. For Stripe, this is the Stripe Reader S700, a reader with a display that works via your Wi-Fi network and also accepts girocard. For SumUp, the Air and Solo readers connect to the device via Bluetooth. Tap to Pay is not available on the iPad – there, you always use a card reader for payments.
The payment provider must be connected to the web desk ( Connect payment provider ). Only employees with the Manage payment service providers right may register or remove a Stripe reader. Stripe readers belong to the restaurant, not the device: All cash registers, the web desk, and the ordering terminal see the same readers.
Register Stripe Reader S700
First, connect the reader to your Wi-Fi network. It will then display a registration code on its screen. In the POS app, open Settings → Payment Providers and tap Register Card Reader on the Stripe card in the Card Readers section. Enter the registration code and optionally a name, for example, Counter. The new reader will appear in the list and will be selected immediately on this device. The process is the same in Web Desk: Under Settings → Integrations, you will find the Card Readers section with Register Card Reader on the Stripe card.
Select reader for this device
Each registered reader appears as a separate line in the list, with its name, device type, and status: online or offline. A checkmark indicates which reader this device is using for transactions. Tap on a different line or open the menu ⋯ and select Use on this device. Multiple cash registers can use the same reader – but only one payment at a time. If a second cash register starts, the app will indicate that the reader is still in use.

Remove card reader
Open the menu ⋯ on the reader's row and tap Remove. After the confirmation prompt, the reader will be deleted from Stripe and will no longer be available on any device in the establishment. If it was selected on this device, the card will again display No card reader paired. For future use, register the reader with a new registration code.
Connect SumUp card readers
SumUp manages its card readers itself. On the SumUp card, tap Manage Card Readers. SumUp opens the Card Terminal page: Use Connect Terminal to pair an Air or Solo card reader via Bluetooth; disconnect it on the same page. Allow Bluetooth and location access if iOS requests it. If Tap to Pay is disabled, the iPhone will process payments via the connected SumUp reader; this always works on the iPad.

The info button ⓘ in the top right corner of the screen Payment Provider explains each section of the cards. How Tap to Pay and the card reader interact on the iPhone is explained under Activating Tap to Pay on the iPhone.
