Tip and change when paying

How to record tips and change when settling accounts

When paying in cash, guests rarely have the exact amount. The checkout screen provides two input fields for this: "Amount Due" and "Received". Change and tip are calculated automatically.

Open amount entry

Tap the large amount at the top to open the input area. The "Received" field only appears for cash payments. The keyboard opens as soon as you tap either field.

Tips and change

You enter a tip by increasing the payment amount above the bill total. A higher amount under "Received," however, always results in change. The "Change Due" and "Tip" lines only display the result.

The plus and minus buttons on the "Amount Due" line round up to the nearest euro. Above the keyboard are additional buttons representing amounts from €5 to €200.

Tips are shown separately in the Z-report. If the service cash register is active, cash tips are counted towards the target balance of the service cash register; whether they remain in the register at the end of the shift is controlled by the "Tip Payout" setting in the web desk.
