Tip at the end of the cash register

How to control tip payouts at the end of your shift

Whether tips remain in the till at the end of a shift or are paid out is controlled by a single setting. You can find it in the web interface under Settings › Restaurant › Cash Book & Service Cash Register in the "Tip Payout" selection field. This setting can only be changed when the shift is closed.

The three modes

Tips stay in the till is the standard: The money remains in the till, the employee doesn't take anything. Employees pay themselves cash tips only take the tips from cash payments; card tips are paid out separately, for example with the payslip. Employees pay themselves all tips also take card tips.

In both deduction modes, the app records a cash book disbursement as "Tip Disbursement (Employee Name)". The target balance at the cash reconciliation is already reduced by this amount.

The shift overview shows what you can take with you after the shift ends.

With an active cash book and a cash count skipped, the dialog box "Tips exceed cash balance" warns if there is insufficient cash for payout. It does not block the shift end: "Pay out anyway" records the withdrawal and ends the shift.
