Start and end shifts

A shift encompasses all processes of a workday from the start of the cash register until the end of the cash register — from the first receipt to the Z-report.

In Servire, a shift is a work period—typically a day from opening to closing the till. It encompasses all orders, cancellations, cash book entries, and settlements. Only upon completion is the Z-report (daily closing) generated and the shift officially finalized.

Start shift

As soon as no shift is active, the overview displays the "Start shift" button. Tap it — you will be taken directly to the table plan, and from that moment on, all tasks will be assigned to the new shift.

If the service checkout is activated, the app prompts you to enter the initial change balance before starting — see the service checkout article.

Step 1

Open the overview (house icon in the top left corner of the table plan) and tap End shift.

If there are still open tables or takeaway orders, the app will block them and display a notification. Please settle all open orders before ending your shift.

Once all orders are completed, the app guides you through the cash reconciliation: You count the cash, enter it by denomination (bills and coins), and if necessary, the app automatically transfers the money to the bank. The app then prints the Z-report—the daily closing statement that documents all sales and taxes in accordance with tax office regulations.

If the service till is active, please count your personal wallet first before the main till is counted. Tips are automatically included at this step.

End your shift as soon as possible at the end of the workday. A shift that remains open for several days accumulates revenue from multiple days—this significantly complicates accounting and can lead to tax problems.
