Enable hub mode for printers

No local printer on the iPad — instead, print jobs via Print Hub (browser) on another device.

If printers are connected to a central computer (Mac mini, PC) and all iPads in the service are to print via this computer, use Hub mode. Instead of going directly from the iPad to the printer, the receipt goes to the cloud, from where the Print Hub in the browser receives it and forwards it to the printers on the network.

Detect hub mode

When hub mode is active, you will see a "Hub mode active" banner at the top of the printer list (Settings → Printers). Local printers are optional in this configuration—the system primarily sends all receipts to the hub.

Print Hub Setup (Browser)

On a PC or Mac, open hub.servire.de in your browser, log in with the same account, and start the Print Hub. You don't configure the printers themselves in the hub, but rather in the POS app: There, they are registered on the network with their IP address—on an iPad via network search, and on Android via manual entry in the printer dialog. The hub then only displays these printers and communicates with them via the network. There is no automatic detection, and printers connected via USB are not supported.

Hub mode is ideal for businesses with many iPads and a centralized printing infrastructure. The advantage: a central point for printer maintenance and uniform operation.

With Hub Mode enabled and the Hub Browser disabled, print jobs are temporarily stored in the cloud (PrintJobs) and printed later once the Hub is back online. No receipts are lost.
