TSE failure: red banner in the POS app
How to react to the red TSE failure banner
If the technical security device (TSE) at your location reports a malfunction, the POS app will display a red banner with a warning triangle at the top of the screen. A configured TSE is required.
What the red banner means
The banner reads: “TSE failure — Transactions are being recorded without a valid signature and will be signed retroactively. Please inform technicians/support.” You can therefore continue working. The banner does not block touches; the POS interface below remains fully functional.
If a transaction remains without a valid signature despite an active TSE, the receipt prints the note "+++ Transaction without a valid TSE signature — Signature will be submitted later (§146a AO). +++". If the cause is known, the line "TSE error" follows with the reason.
What you should do now
Check the TSE at your location and contact support if the malfunction persists. Additionally, the system will send a warning email to the location owner's address with the subject line "Important: TSE malfunction at your POS system." This email will include the location, the time of detection, and the number of open unsigned receipts—no more than once per day.
The signature status of a cash book entry is shown in the TSE information for the entry: "TSE signing pending" or red "TSE signing failed".
A background process checks hourly whether the TSE (Technical Security Equipment) is reachable again and signs any pending documents. If no unsigned transactions remain, the system automatically resolves the issue and the banner disappears without any action required from you.
